Buku ini diterbitkan sebagai bagian dari program pemajuan kebudayaan. Didukung oleh Kementerian Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia, LPDP, dan Dana Indonesiana.
Peluncuran buku menjadi langkah penting dalam mendokumentasikan perjalanan panjang wajit. Salah satu makanan khas Cililin yang telah menjadi bagian dari identitas budaya masyarakat Jawa Barat selama beberapa generasi.
Tidak hanya membahas resep dan teknik pembuatannya, buku ini juga mengulas sejarah, filosofi dan nilai budaya. Hingga berbagai inovasi wajit yang berkembang di era modern.
Pendekatan Populer & Bahasa Ringan
Buku Wajit tersebut disusun dengan bahasa yang ringan dan komunikatif sehingga dapat dinikmati berbagai kalangan. Mulai dari siswa SMP dan SMA, mahasiswa, komunitas budaya, hingga masyarakat umum.
Melalui pendekatan yang populer, pembaca diajak memahami bahwa wajit bukan sekadar makanan tradisional. Melainkan juga warisan budaya yang menyimpan cerita tentang kehidupan, tradisi, dan identitas masyarakat.
Dalam buku ini, pembaca dapat menemukan berbagai pembahasan menarik. Seperti asal-usul wajit Cililin, tradisi dan ritual yang berkaitan dengan wajit, posisi wajit sebagai Warisan Budaya Takbenda (WBTb), tantangan pelestarian di tengah perubahan zaman. Hingga inovasi produk seperti Wajit Smoothies, Wajit Brownies, dan Wajit Cokelat.
Selain menjadi media edukasi, buku ini juga diharapkan mampu mendorong keterlibatan generasi muda dalam upaya pelestarian budaya. Di tengah derasnya arus globalisasi dan budaya instan, dokumentasi seperti buku menjadi salah satu cara penting untuk menjaga agar pengetahuan, nilai, dan praktik budaya tidak hilang ditelan waktu.

Program penerbitan buku ini merupakan bagian dari komitmen untuk memperkuat ekosistem kebudayaan berbasis masyarakat. Sekaligus mendukung pengembangan ekonomi kreatif lokal yang berakar pada kearifan budaya.
Dengan dokumentasi yang baik, wajit diharapkan tidak hanya dikenal sebagai makanan khas. Tetapi juga sebagai simbol kebanggaan budaya yang terus hidup dan berkembang di tengah masyarakat.
Menurut sang penulis, DR. Reka Yuda Mahardika, hadirnya buku ini mengajak masyarakat untuk kembali mengenal, mencintai, dan mengapresiasi wajit. Bukan hanya karena legit rasanya, tetapi juga karena cerita panjang dan nilai budaya yang terkandung di dalamnya.
